Love Bites...not really. Love is Grand!!

Valentine's Day is around the corner so I decided to make some sweet treats for my Loved ones.I bought these Valentine themed candy corn from the Bulk Barn and was really excited about using them to make Valentine's goodies. When it came time to making something, I was stuck:(  For some reason all I could think of was that they reminded me of teeth!! After what seemed forever.....Love Bites were invented!! Since they reminded me of teeth I decided to run with it and make cute, furry and funny faces using the candy corn as teeth. I think they turned out pretty darn cute.

I made a batch of sugar cookie dough, click here for recipe, cut out 4 inch circles and baked them. Then I made royal icing which I used for the hair and also for the eyeballs. I dyed some of the royal icing black for the eye centers and on a piece of parchment paper I dropped pea size white dots and smaller black dots of royal icing.

Once the dots were dried completely I stacked them to make eyeballs, then attached them to the cookies rounds for eyes. You can pipe the black centers right onto the white icing dots but you have to let the icing dry thoroughly or run the risk of the black bleeding into the white part. To make things simple I pipe them and dried them separably. Do what works for you. I always make extras, they keep really well and are great for times when you're in a rush.

Then I tinted some royal icing pink and used it to make hair styles on my Love Bites faces. I embellished them with tiny heart sprinkle which I found at bulk barn too and rolled fondant roses. Click here for rolled fondant rose tutorial. I added some lashes, eyebrows, a mouth and of course the Valentine's Candy Corns for teeth!!! They turn out pretty cute:)

Love Bites, who wouldn't enjoy receiving these

Love Bites just happen to be a fitting name for these sweet treats but the truth is true Love is grand!!

It sure does bite sometime, like when you love someone and they don't love you back or when something bad happens to someone you Love. But I think Love is a wonderful thing.

When I'm talking about Love, I'm talking about the kind of love that is written about in the Bible. That's were I get my favorite quotes about Love. I'm sure most of you have heard or read this verse, it's one of my favorites,

Love suffers long and is kind;love does not envy: love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.
1Corninthians 13:4-8

What a wonderful thing it is to be Love. With Valentine's Day coming up I thought I would share my perspective on Love. I couldn't imagine what life would be like without Love. And even though Valentine's Day is a day to express your Love, I think everyday should be a day to share Love, laughter and joy with the people in your life. It's not always easy to do this and it's a learning process. I've fail many times myself but I will continue to work on sharing Love with everyone in my life, it's definitely worth it.

Whatever why you chose to express your Love, maybe with a song, a card, flowers or sweets remember this,

Smiley Face

When it's true Love it's pure Love

That's my quote on Love.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
